Doctoral candidates for the degrees Ph.D., D.M.A., Ed.D., D.N.P., and D.P.T. will have biographical information listed in the commencement program book. Details may include your prior earned degrees, major, dissertation or essay title, and dissertation advisor. To ensure the accuracy of the information printed in the program book please carefully review the details of your application for graduation in CaneLink. If any information is missing or incorrect, please see your program director to update the records before submitting the application for graduation.
All students will apply for graduation prior to actual completion of the degree and defense of dissertation. For more information visit the Graduate School website.
The doctoral candidates will be hooded on stage during the commencement ceremony. The Graduate School will designate the faculty hooders for all candidates. Graduates will proceed to the stage where they will be hooded by the preselected faculty hooders.
The graduate will then proceed across the stage to be congratulated by the president and dean. Graduates will exit the stage and move to the back of the room for an additional photograph before returning to their seats.

There WILL NOT be a hooding rehearsal for the Spring 2024 Commencement. Please note, all candidates (including Law and M.D.) will be hooded by pre-selected faculty of the Graduate School, School of Law, and Miller School of Medicine.
