Doctoral Student Records

Doctoral candidates for the degrees Ph.D., D.M.A., Ed.D., D.N.P., and D.P.T. will have biographical information listed in the commencement program book. Details may include your prior earned degrees, major, dissertation or essay title, and dissertation advisor. To ensure the accuracy of the information printed in the program book please carefully review the details of your application for graduation in CaneLink. If any information is missing or incorrect, please see your program director to update the records before submitting the application for graduation.

All students will apply for graduation prior to actual completion of the degree and defense of dissertation. For more information visit the Graduate School website.

Doctoral Hooding Process

The doctoral candidates will be hooded on stage during the commencement ceremony. The Graduate School will designate the faculty hooders for all candidates. Due to COVID-19, advisors will not be hooding candidates during the May 2022 ceremonies. Graduates will proceed to the stage where they will be hooded by the preselected faculty hooders.

The graduate will then proceed across the stage to be congratulated by the president and dean. Graduates will exit the stage and move to the back of the room for an additional photograph before returning to their seats.
