Lavender Celebration and Recognition Ceremony: The Lavender Celebration and Recognition Ceremony is an annual ceremony conducted at universities to honor LGBTQIA+ students and acknowledge their academic achievements, accomplishments, and contributions ​to the UM community. For more information, please visit the Lavender Celebration and Recognition Ceremony webpage on the LGBTQ Student Center website or contact them at lgbtq@miami.edu

Graduating Legacy Reception: The Division of Alumni Relations celebrates graduating students and their families at our annual Graduating Legacy Reception. At this special ceremony, legacy parent(s)/grandparent(s) will have the opportunity to present their graduating legacy with an official UM legacy stole to wear during commencement. Senior Mwambo Ceremony:  The Senior Mwambo Ceremony is an African rite of passage ceremony that marks the transition of black graduates from their lives at the University of Miami to advanced education and professional careers. This ceremony was established in 1992 through the vision and love of a very dynamic and caring international student from Malawi, East Africa; Mr. Patrick A. Masala.
