Faculty Participation Fall 2024 Update
Commencement is a special time for our graduates and guests. The participation of members of the faculty emphasizes the value and importance of the guidance, leadership, and support given to our students.
The stage party will be limited to those with speaking roles only. There will be two designated hooders for the Fall 2024 Graduate Ceremony. Dissertation Advisors may walk with their candidate(s) and stand next to them as the designated hooders hood each graduate.

Formation of Processions for Candidates and Faculty
The Academic Procession consists of the candidates for the degrees, participating general faculty and designated hooders, Grand Marshal, as well as Academic and Faculty Banner Marshals.
The President's Procession includes the President, Provost, Presiding Trustee, Deans, and Banner Marshals.
- Grand Marshal, Banner Marshals, Faculty Marshals, and General Faculty will all gather in the Hurricane-100 (H-100) Room at the Watsco Center one hour before the ceremony start time and will march with 30 minutes before the ceremony start time. The Academic Procession will enter the Watsco Center fifteen minutes before the ceremony start time.
- Stage Party will assemble in the Thomas P. Murphy Design Studio Building in the School of Architecture one hour prior to the start of the ceremony and march with the President's Procession. The President's Procession will enter the Watsco Center promptly at the advertised ceremony start time after the Academic Procession.
