Ceremony Schedule

Click here to view the Medical School virtual Commencement Ceremony held on May 9, 2020.

Following guidance from state and federal agencies to suspend large events and promote social distancing due to COVID-19, the May 2020 undergraduate, graduate, and law commencement ceremonies will be postponed until December 2020.

Please note, Fall 2020 candidates will still have their own ceremonies.

Degree and Diploma

You will still earn your degree and be considered a graduate of the University of Miami upon completion of your academic requirements, regardless of whether or not you are able to attend your ceremony in December.

Diplomas are issued by the Office of the Registrar upon successful completion of your degree requirements. More information can be found via the Office of the Registrar.

Cap and Gown, Diploma Covers, and Stole of Gratitude

The deadline to order cap and gown was May 18, 2020. All students who plan to return for the postponed ceremonies in December, will be able to obtain cap and gown then.

  • Please be sure to complete the RSVP form that will be emailed to you in the fall.
  • Stole of Gratitude will also be available for purchase in December.

If you received a Bachelor gown with the incorrect U logo, please email commencement@miami.edu for a replacement gown.

Student Speakers

A student speaker will still be featured during the rescheduled spring/summer ceremonies. We encourage you to apply if you meet the criteria and plan to attend. Please note there will be a virtual selection process to accommodate all students.

Details for undergraduate student speakers will be updated on our website, so please check back for details in the fall.
